Longtime UPS resident Yessenia Acosta epitomizes all that is possible with hope, determination and positivity. Ms. Acosta came to UPS 20 years ago in need of safe living conditions and medical support. Guided by the advocacy of her compassionate caseworker, Ms. Acosta was able to tackle feelings of depression and isolation brought on by years of abuse, and move to an apartment closer to friends and family.
She learned how to achieve structure by setting goals and following a regular medication regimen. Ms. Acosta has since gotten married and is the proud mother of three children. She’s currently pursuing her passion for art with renewed self-confidence and deep gratitude for her caseworker, whom she considers a “friend for life.” To learn more about Yessenia and other heartfelt stories, check out our 25th Anniversary video here.
